A Greener Future in Healthcare: Apollo Hospitals Allies with Smart Joules for a Sustainable Impact

In an ambitious and forward-thinking move, Apollo Hospitals, renowned as the world’s largest vertically integrated healthcare provider, has formed an alliance with Smart Joules. The partnership aims to cut down carbon emissions by an impressive 2,90,000 tons over ten years across 18 Apollo hospitals in India.

Central to this initiative is Smart Joules’ pioneering JoulePAYS solution, which facilitates Apollo Hospitals to retrofit their infrastructure for better energy efficiency without the burden of initial investment costs. The adoption of Smart Joules’ JoulePAYS reflects Apollo Hospitals’ commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness.

India, being a global leader in climate action, has pledged to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070. In light of this, the partnership between Apollo Hospitals and Smart Joules is particularly significant. It showcases the power of innovative solutions like JoulePAYS in supporting national and global efforts to combat climate change and reduce carbon footprints.

In a remarkably short time frame of just four months, Apollo Hospitals has implemented 235 energy conservation measures through the incorporation of JoulePAYS. These measures are anticipated to culminate in savings of an astounding 235 million kWh of energy and INR 2 billion by the year 2030.

Dr. K Hariprasad, President of Apollo Hospitals, conveyed the importance of the initiative in maintaining high-quality healthcare services while significantly reducing environmental impacts. He highlighted how this venture creates a win-win scenario for Apollo Hospitals, patients, and the environment.

In addition to the financial savings, the initiative reflects the ethical responsibility and commitment of Apollo Hospitals toward environmental sustainability. This is especially pertinent in the healthcare sector, where the carbon footprint is often substantial.

Apollo Hospitals, through this collaboration with Smart Joules, sets a precedent for other healthcare providers and businesses to follow. It sends a strong message about the pivotal role the healthcare sector can play in global sustainability and climate action efforts.
