Audiologist Devangi Dalal honored for her work providing free hearing aids to underprivileged kids
Devangi Dalal, an audiologist, speech-language pathologist, and co-founder of the Josh Foundation, has been honored for her tireless efforts to provide free hearing aids to underprivileged children. Her work has gained widespread recognition, including the American Academy of Audiology’s Humanitarian Award in 2012, and the Women Influencers Award in 2019.
Dalal’s mission is to help and support children with hearing issues, and to make them equally inclusive in our society. Through the Josh Foundation, she has distributed over a thousand hearing aids to children, and successfully provided 100 percent digital hearing aids to 12 schools.
In addition to her work with the Josh Foundation, Dalal has authored books and directed a telefilm to create awareness about hearing impairment. She was also appointed as the First Advocate for Hearing Health from India by Coalition for Global Hearing Health (CGHH), working with WHO to promote public awareness about hearing health.
Dalal’s constant efforts and courage in accepting challenges to give a new life to people suffering from this unseen disability have made her reach an international platform. She has been instrumental in collecting funds to the tune of more than Rs 4.5 Crore to support hearing-impaired children.
Her work has been recognized as a significant achievement, and serves as an inspiration to many. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it is worth highlighting the incredible work of women like Devangi Dalal, who are making a difference in the lives of underprivileged children.
